Puyang Iron and Steel No. 1 Steelmaking Slab Continuous Casting Machine was Successfully Tested

Recently, the No. 1 high-speed slab continuous casting machine project of Puyang Iron and Steel, supplied by China Heavy Industry Research Institute EP, was successfully tested.

The original No. 1 slab continuous casting machine was designed and supplied by a foreign company in 2013. It has been running well since it was put into production, with a hot delivery qualification rate of almost 100%, creating good economic benefits for Puyang. In 2022, due to the capacity adjustment of Puyang's No. 1 steelmaking refining furnace, the original No. 1 continuous casting machine could not meet the production capacity requirements, so Puyang Iron and Steel increased the speed of the No. 1 machine and updated the equipment. The upgrading and transformation of the No. 1 machine is the fourth large-scale continuous casting machine general contracting project after the successful commissioning of three slab continuous casting machines, including the Puyang two-machine two-strand slab continuous casting machine in 2020, the Puyang three-steel 420×2300 extra-thick slab continuous casting machine in 2022, and the Puyang Steel double-strand slab continuous casting machine in 2023. The continuous casting machine can produce slabs with a thickness of 150-180mm and a width of 1000-2300mm.

Since the original continuous casting machine is a complete system, the foreign party encrypted the original program, the electrical components must be reused, the newly designed fan-shaped segment must be compatible with the original fan-shaped segment control system, and the entire set of continuous casting machines must be relocated and moved horizontally. The layout and civil engineering of the entire casting machine need to be redesigned, which is extremely difficult. After the contract was signed, the continuous casting team selected elite forces in the field of electromechanical and hydraulics to form a research group, overcame various difficulties, and completed the overall goal of the continuous casting machine hot test safely, efficiently and with high quality. In addition to deepening the users' high recognition of our institute's continuous casting technology, Puyang No. 1 machine has also, more importantly, honed a professional and solid technical team capable of fighting tough battles during the execution of the project.

The successful commissioning of Puyang No. 1 machine marks the maturity of our institute's continuous casting technology and the completion of the case of a complete set of system transformation of imported continuous casting machines, demonstrating the profound professional and technical level and team cohesion of China Heavy Industry Research Institute.
