Tokyo Institute of Technology researches liquid iron under extreme conditions
A Tokyo Institute of Technology research team led by Professor Kenji Ohta has succeeded in measuring the electrical resistance of liquid iron at extremely high pressures and temperatures such as those found in the Earth's interior. Professor Ohta developed two new techniques that made the breakthrough possible.

Optimized magnet-based Inclusion Detection System from IMS
At this year's METEC in Düsseldorf, IMS Messsysteme GmbH will present the optimized version of its Inclusion Detection System (IDS) for cold-rolled strip steels. The innovation works on the basis of the magnetic flux leakage principle and detects previously undetectable defects in coated and uncoated thin and thin sheets from 0.1 to 1 mm thickness precisely, without contact and at high speed during the running process.

Outokumpu optimizes health and safety monitoring with AI and robotics

Hydnum Steel and Primetals plan green steel mill in Spain
Hydnum Steel and Primetals Technologies plan to build a "green" steel mill in Puertollano, Spain. The companies made the announcement at Metec in Düsseldorf. The plant will be one of the most important production sites for green steel in Europe. The green hydrogen to be used will be produced locally.
